About Katie
I am an avid tennis player, mom to four, and teacher at heart. Coaching tennis is a natural fit for me, as I grew up helping and observing my dad teach tennis. Additionally, I love the sport of tennis and I am a natural teacher. I have had a variety of occupations in my life, the most recent being owner of my own personal training business, and my very most enjoyable being a 3rd grade teacher. As a mom to four, I don't have a lot of time to play tennis myself these days, but when I do I'm usually hitting with my dad or my eight year old son, and I also enjoy playing on an adult USTA teams in the Spring. Tennis has created a great community for me throughout my life, and I hope to bring that to our juniors in Sonoma County as well. And to foster a love for the game that will continue to grow with them.
Acers Story
Acers Tennis was birthed out of my desire to bring competitive tennis to Sonoma County. Having loved playing junior USTA tournaments as a kid, I felt it necessary to bring this to our neck of the woods, instead of having to drive 1.5 hours, when we have plenty of interested juniors locally. My son was really the impetus for me, as he became interested in competitive play at the age of eight, I quickly found that there was nothing nearby. So... I took a deep research dive into junior USTA tennis, discovering colored balls progressions and events, and Acers was officially born!
I have been coaching kids clinics for the past four years, and before that had many years of experience coaching tennis at my dad's junior clinics and as a summer camp counselor. There's nothing I'd rather do than be on the court helping a child develop in tennis. through tennis kids learn so much: patience, hard work, confidence, communication- in addition to the physical coordination required.
